lecture - 19-09-05

We had with Rosie for a lecture and we watched 3 films that could help us in our own documentaries.

Video notes – wise men

In the whole documentary they used lots of different camera angles and close ups of the person. In the film the documenter didn’t speak in the documentary but letting the people to do the talking and using their body language to do the work. Whiles they were filming they also filmed the conditions the people where living in to give you a sense of how they lived. The film maker catches daily evens that happen to him and must have spent some time with him to be able to catcher the footage.

The next documentary we watched was called the lost peasants (part 1)

In this documentary it’s about a group of men travelling out of a country to get work. The film maker films them from a distant so that they don’t get caught by the police. There was a scene that was really good it was when the man was talking to someone on the phone and we where able to hear both of the conversations in one scene. Also the other scene that I liked was when the camera was out side the window and it’s seemed to be like they where spying on them but wasn’t. They also filmed random things or places to fill in the spaces when they won’t talking and then the music took over.

The last film that we watched was about the people that the men left behind in the second film we watched. The lost peasants (part 2).

In this film they filmed the women working doing normal choirs that they would do every day. Thought out the film it was only the narrator that was talking and when the women did talk it was when they where talking to each other about their dreams and hopes. They film close ups at time of the women. To get most of what they where saying on camera must have taken a lot of trust from the film maker because what they were saying where deep.

Specialist Contextal Investigation Project - Research File

We have to compile a research file in a folder with the following in it:

  1. Lecture- notes and handouts.
  2. Research-photocopies of articles, reviews, download texts, images. (from books, magazines, websites, exhibition guildes and many more.)
  3. Essay- write a (700-1500 word) written account centered on the artist/pocess/movement that i like.
  4. Presentation- to the whole of the class, thats going to be about 10 mins. using film clips, a power point presentation and maybe a audio recording.
  5. Bibliography- built up a collection of research on the subject that i am interested in.
